The School Forum

The school forum is an important part of the life of the school because it is an opportunity for pupils to make their views known and to see that whatever they might say, or suggest will be seriously considered and responded to. Although every individual pupil’s views are listened to at the school, the Forum aims to improve the life of the school for all pupils and staff and to look for opportunities to support other people or groups outside of the school and to make a positive contribution to the local and wider communities.

The Forum is made up of a representative from every house group, which means that there is a spread of ages and genders to reflect the pupil make up of the school and an opportunity to express an opinion on behalf of themselves and their house according to their age and gender. Other members of the Forum include the Deputy Head, the Care Manager, the Head of Catering and one of the school counsellors.

The Forum meets once every half term and has made a number of significant suggestion that have improved life at the school, including changes to the range of activities available, the range of food provided and a variety of successful fundraising events on behalf of other people or groups. Topics such as bullying and food form a part of every Forum agenda.
