The school fully recognises the responsibilities and dangers associated with administering prescribed medication. In response to this, prescribed medication will only be administered by one on the 10 current members of staff who have successfully completed the NVQ Level 2 course: Certificated in Safe Handling of Medicines.
Prescribed medication will only be administered with the written consent of both the parent and the prescribing doctor, and any changes to medication will not be made until the school has received written confirmation by the prescribing Doctor. Likewise, the school will not make any changes to prescribed dosages unless it has received written confirmation from the prescribing Doctor.
All prescribed medication is kept under lock and key in a separate locked room and any medication brought into the school, or given out to pupils, is registered and recorded in the schools Controlled Drugs Register.
